PARKS NEAR THE ARENA HOSTEL
Parks and gardens are a big part of Prague's charm, especially in the
summer. Luckily, Arena Hostel is located very close to two major parks
which will invite you for a stroll and a beer ...
Stromovka
Stromovka is adjacent to the Vystaviste (Exhibiton Grounds) complex
accross the street. It is one of Prague's best maintained parks and
contains the Planetarium (shown below). On the far end
of Stromovka, walk across to the other side of the Vltava, using
the foot bridge. You'll enter the Emperor's Island, inhabited
by outdoor-loving Praguers enjoying miniature gardens, boat landings
and
riding stables, as well as the
Zoo, Japanese Garden and
Troja Chateau on the far side. |

Letna Park
Also nearby is Letna Park, overlooking the Vltava river,
Old Town and the Castle. The viewpoint, marked by a gigantic Metronome,
once displayed an enormous statue of Stalin, which was blown
up during the "deStalinization" period.
Today's Letna is the ultimate place for a summer evening
beer. Letna Park is famous for it's lovely views, beer gardens and
steps leading down to the river. |
