TROJA CHATEAU, THE ZOO & BOTANICAL GARDENA lovely walk through the nearby Stromovka park (or a couple of tramstops, if you are tired of walking) will get you to the other side of the Vltava river to an area called Troja (pronounced Troya). The beautiful Baroque Troja chateau houses City Gallery's collection of 19th century Czech paintings, unique mostly by their themes and relation to the city of Prague. See more at the City Gallery's site.
Just across the street from the chateau is the entrance to Prague's Zoo. The location of both, near the river meant severe flood damage in the summer of 2002. The area is open to the public again and your visit will contribute to its complete recovery. Another lovely addition to Troja is the new Japanese Garden, a section of Prague's Botanical Garden.
